There's no better time to get your child into tennis. At Medstead we offer junior coaching for all ages and abilities, in a fun, friendly environment where kids actually want to come back week after week!
Tennis helps develop coordination, balance, agility, and overall fitness in a fun and engaging way that supports children both on and off the court.
Learning to track the ball, think ahead, and stay focused during play helps children build concentration and problem-solving skills that extend far beyond tennis.
As children learn new skills and see their game improve, they naturally grow in confidence, both on court and throughout everyday life.
Tennis is a sport children can enjoy from an early age through to adulthood, making it one of the best long-term investments in physical health, wellbeing, and social connection.
Wherever your child is starting their tennis journey from, our friendly coaching team will help them find the right group, develop their skills, and most importantly, enjoy being on court.
Red Ball is the starting point for younger children and beginners. The balls are larger, softer, & bounce lower, making them easier to hit & control. Red ball helps children build confidence, coordination, & enjoyment from their very first session.
Green Ball is the next step as children grow in confidence and ability. Green balls are a little fast then red balls and helps players develop stronger technique, movement, and tactical awareness while still keeping the game fun and achievable.
Yellow Ball is the full version of the game, using standard tennis balls on a full-size court. Seeing juniors throughout their tennis journey, this stage is for those ready to progress into traditional tennis, match play, and club competitions.
We know that keeping girls engaged in sport as they get older isn't always easy. That's why at Medstead we've made it a priority to create an environment where girls feel welcome, supported and excited to keep playing.
We have a female coach on our team, giving girls a role model they can relate to on court. We also offer girls-specific coaching sessions so they're always playing in a comfortable, friendly group with others at a similar stage.
For our teenagers, we're introducing teen nights. A relaxed, social way to keep older girls connected to the game at an age when many start to drift away from sport altogether.
Whether your daughter is just starting out or looking to develop her game further, we're committed to making sure she has every reason to stay on court and enjoy all the benefits of sport.
There's nothing quite like the buzz of your first competition. We love seeing our younger players step up, test themselves and grow in confidence through fun, friendly match play.
We run junior tournaments throughout the year across all three stages: Red Ball, Green Ball and Yellow Ball, so there's always something to work towards, whatever level your child is at.
Our tournaments are designed to be enjoyable and supportive first and foremost. It's less about the result and more about gaining that match experience, making friends and falling a little more in love with the game.
We’re proud to have Izzy Hood as Medstead Tennis Club’s Youth Ambassador.
