The club endeavours to be an active and accessible part of the community, whether that is participating in village committees and events or raising money for local charities. Tennis is a great way for village members to support their wellbeing. We encourage participation from the under 8's to the over 80's; from the young to the young at heart ♥️ !
Club coach Will May-Miller has undertaken a long-term training plan to prepare for his charity swim across the Channel - which he was finally able to complete on 22nd August 2024!
Will's swim raised over £17,000 for the Mlambe Project charity, our 2024 charity of the year, so huge congratulations to Will!
Each year the club selects a local charity to support. Fund-raising events, including our annual 'Wimblestead' sweepstake, contribute to the nominated charity.
For 2026 our nominated charity is St. Michael's Hospice.
Our village church, St. Andrew's, celebrated 800 years of history in 2025. The club contributed a beautiful display, created by Grace Lamb, on the history of tennis and its role in village life.
We run games for all-comers at the village fete each year. Check our Club Calendar for the event date this year.
This is the report from 2025:
"A massive thank-you to everyone who helped and contributed, from the set-up in the morning with gazebos, tables, prizes, tennis balls, horse-racing kit, to three hours of afternoon activity in intense heat followed by the final clear-up. The children and adults who took part really loved it all, with many children remembering taking part last year and returning again.
Our volunteer heroes were Barry and Sylvie Wood, Chris Trotter, Steve Bicknell, Stuart and Marion Slater plus Michael, Stephen Finn and Tina, Tony Causton, Richard Marlow, and although not able to be there on the day we had great support in advance from Jenny Murphy and James Bowling.
In total we made £52.80 which was donated to the Village Fete Committee."
